A Concert worth every Penny ...

Atlast it was Thala who made me blog after a long time ... :)

This was the first line I typed
"Let me make it quite brief and give 10 highlights according to me Thala's JAI-HO concert in Hyderabad " but couldn't restrict my list jus to 10 ..

  • Taal's instrumental transfusing to Ringu Ringu Ringa .. sung by the gorgeous Shreya Ghosal ..
  • AR with Khwaja mera and Javel Ali singing Maula were divine
  • Blaaze/Benny/Vivian /Shweta - Delhi 6 -- The Screen was making wonders behind the performers .. WoWWWW .....
  • Benny/Blaaze - Pappu Can't dance Saala -- Poor guy Benny he was not covered during this performance ..he was rocking both as a Dancer and Singer...
  • Vivian tryin to speak Telugu and then Benny/Blaaze joined for Taxi Taxi which made the crowd on their feet ..
  • Blaaze with his awesome RAP and AR cruised in with Humma Humma ... First few lines were jus sang by the keyboard of AR .. which was a nuance I was looking for ..
  • I was worried that there were no vintage AR's singers - like SP/Hariharan/Shankar Mahadevan/Sujatha and to my rescue it was Chitra and Sadhana who peformed two songs each ... :)
  • Shweta pandit was at her best when she sang Chandrlekha along with Lush the rapper .. she was also dancing well along with Lush ..
  • Vellai pookal was not performed but a video was shot on AR and was played in the big screen which was apt to the cause of this concert ..
  • The LED screen concept behind the performers was awesome/impressive/great .. all synonyms of awesome .. I guess its by Tech Frontiers .. They totally ROCKED ..
  • Jodhaa Akbar - Azeem oh Sha -- Sivamani with his trademark drums and slowly the song changed it track and ended with AR singing Veerapandi kotayilae .. MAN that was ..hmm.. sorry got no words to explain.. u have to experience ..
  • I was very much waiting for this part of the concert with AR on the paino as the only instrument and vocals... Vijay Prakash with Ennavalae(Tel Version) / Rashid Ali with Kahin to / Sadhana - Sarfaroshi was mind blowing ...
  • Rehna Tu was sung very well by AR where he hummed the whole continuum fingerboard instrumental thats comes during the end of the song ..
  • Javed Ali started Jash ne bahara in Telugu and changed gears to Hindi was ultimate to listen ..
  • Chaiyya Chaiyya was sung by Rehana (AR's sis) and she was rocking with a RAP mix by LUSH(She did break dancing and moon walk as MJ while Rapping for Chaiya OMG!!)
  • A guy with the sitar was jus playing like ..hmm(i dont have words to explain as I have already used all synonyms of awesome ..) ...along with AR on the piano .. and Sivamani on the drums... lead to Mausam and escape from Slumdog .. WWOooWWW ..
  • Neethi Mohan .. (I never knew her before).. she was very energetic with her Maiyya Maiyaa peformance... she was dancing superbly and did proper justice with her singing too.. i dont kno how ppl can have such breath control ..Wow is apt ..
  • Was sad that AR was not on the keyboard but he compensated as he sang many songs ..
  • Jaage Hain
  • Athiradee
  • Dil se
  • Jiya Se Jiya
  • Mustafa
  • Humma
  • Khalbali
  • Rehna Tu
  • Khwaja / Arziyan
  • Humming in Kannalanae ( Tel version sung by Chitra)
  • Jai Ho Vande mataram
  • Vellai Pookal ( It was the movie version but anyways sung by AR)
  • Suzzane was high in energy as she started with Rangeela with only few instruments at the background and then the lead guitarist started off to go on peak to start Aye Bachoo ..
  • When they started JAI HO I was quite sad as I knew its gonna be the last song of the concert and they changed the tracks to Vande Mataram and fire works at the back drop, it was stunning/ amazing picturesque ..

One improvement comment would be the acoustic effect .. it wasn't upto the mark . . quite disappointing... but other than that ... it was "A Concert worth every Penny ... " for me .. :)

2008 - Rahmaniac dream come true ..

As I am penning this, Benny and Shreya renders Kaise Mujhe for the 50th time in my Pod ..

2008 is a Rocking year for a Rahmaniac ..As many as 7 albums got released and Slum Dog Millionaire will be hitting early December .. He has once again proved that he is a versatile composer.. be it a period film (Jodhaa Akbar) or a Youthful Peppy movie (JTYJN/Sakarakatti) or a commercial masala (ATM/Ghajini) or a signature album (Ada) or western Orchestration (Yuvraaj) ..he exelled in whatever it takes..

This reminds me of the year 1999 where He was at his best with a total of 9 albums(En Swasa Kaatre / Padayappa/ Kadhalar Dhinam / Taal / Sangamam / Jodi / Takshak / Mudhalvan /
Taj Mahal) to his credit.

When each album gets out, the first reaction as many ppl say is "Arr Magic is missing ..Blah Blah.." Even I have got many critics on ARR in my room and they love doing it not becoz they don't like the music but to pull my legs .. 'Rahman's compositions are slow poison..' That I would say only for a Non Rahmaniac and a true one can get hold of his compositions in a couple of listens... Others will take time to digest his compositions and appreciate it ..

Anyways hope 2009 would also be a Rocking one or even better than this year .. Waiting for ROBO / BLUE / DILLI 6 / COM / MARMAYOGI /19TH STEP / SULTAN / CONNECTIONS and the list goes on ...

V 4 .. V DiD iT

2 years before i heard of GM diet and that day onwards had a feeling of being on the same some day .. but it never happened .. and now V did it ... 4 of us started off and i had always been skeptical that I wouldnt be able to follow religiously... but surprisingly pulled it off so convincingly.... I should say it was just possible bcoz v did it together .. :)

On the lot we had 2 Veggies and 2 NVeggies .. These 2 NV's enjoyed havin Chicken on the 5th and 6th day but then we had to eat Soya :( we had no other go .. If its not for Subway Salads it would have been very difficult.... One more pick of the week is the Tomato Soup .. Thanks to Bharat who got the idea of making Soup and made it well too... last 2 days it was Eswar's Tomato Kichidi..which helped us push some brown rice inside... It was one Guy AK who got deviated on the last day and had pastry and Veg biryani... TrAiTor :) .. He got this compensated since he was on diet during the 1st/2nd days of GM Diet..( Diet la Diet..)

Over all a very good experience and i really enjoyed ... It was 4 days we went to Subway and had Salads instead of SUB .. Today afternoon it was SUB's time and grabbed a Corn n Peas SUB ... :)

Roop Kumar Rathod has a stunning voice ..

Last Sunday was watching MISSION USTAAD in 9X .. Rahman was one among the jury members. Roop Kumar and his spouse were one of the participants and i was stunned listening to his song.. Once it got over Rahman commented - " I am a gr8 fan of yours " and Roop kumar replied " I am honoured SIR ".. I couldnt recollect the first line of the song so i didnt try searching in net for that song...

I was browsing IBNlive.com to vote the best song of 2007 and found a song Maula from movie Anwar sung by Roop Kumar.. I had one gut feeling that this would be the same song as the one i listened in MISSION USTAAD.. Downloaded the song and to my surprise the gut feeling was correct.. Ppl if you want to have a taste of his voice, here is the link from which you can download the song..

Beowulf .. Hard to believe that its an animation movie...

Beowulf...

Its been a long time i met Danie [ My school friend ] ..so called him up.. we thought 'll go out for a movie and when checked in PVR we had tickets only for BEOWULF .. and they told its an animation movie .. ok fine we booked for noon show ...

I didnt have much expectations on the movie. But i was shocked watching the opening scene itself... It was animated that good that we didnt believe that its animation ... The charaters were so real and i cant explain enough on this.. to experience just go and watch it in theatre..

It doesnt have a very good story line and all.. You would see a HERO - BEOWULF who saves a king from his curse and falls prey to the evil lady [ Angeline Jolie ] ... the second half is how he gets rid of the curse which follows him... The screenplay would depict the heroics of BEOWULF with very good action choreography and animation....

One more highlight of the movie is the music... the background music was very good and it very well jelled with the situation.... The song that the princess would sing on BEOWULF request's, is the pick of the movie..

Overall I enjoyed the movie .. Hope you also ll enjoy...

Kalloori... worth buyin original CD

My title says "worth buying original CD" but i didnt do so.. Its always easy to advice and hard to follow rite...

Lets have a review of the tracks which i liked the most in kalloori...

Music Director : Joshua Sridhar

Unarugil - ****

The first song which i listened in this album was "Un arugil" which rocked... For the past 3/4 days i ve been listening to this song a lot .. its always there in my wmp playlist / then in my sunray then in my mobile... The credit should go to the singers too .. Both Haricharan and Harini Sudhakar [ Debut i guess, not sure ] has done a good job...

Kalloori Theme - ***

Joshua sridhar comes with a theme music for each project that he works on.. we had in Kadhal/Uyir/Chennai Kadhal/Aran.. This number made me remember the theme music of kadhal ... anyways again haricharan with Joshua's programming has come out well.. I dont know much about music, even i felt the choice of instruments [Guitar / Flute /Trumpet if ia m not wrong ] that he has used for this number was good..

June July - **1/2

It was good the first time when i listened but now its out of my play list .. Krishh is the one who has sung "Oru mugamo" in Bheema with Naresh Iyer... I dont know much about suchitra... but they have sung well and this one is OK and nothing is bad or nothing is better in it too...

The other two i didnt even try listening for the secong time... thats not my taste.. may be you ppl can have a try at those....

Waiting for its release..Tamanna is there in the movie ... :)

Catch you ppl with my next review on the Movie "The Recruit "

Naan thanga Ram ...

Its been a long time i thought to create a blog for myself and atlast its today, it has come to reality.... Thanks to Eswar [ very good friend of mine :) ] who inspired me to create 1 .....

Myself and Harish [ another very good lambu friend... ] used to give an innovative thought of becoming popular/rich in a quick time ... infact we had wasted a lot of time only thinking of those .. one of those is creating a website and writing reviews of movies ... we usually watch movies only on fridays that too first day ...one more clause is- > that too only during business hours... Now i dont regret of not bunking classes and watching movies during my college days.... But as i said earlier we talk a lot but we dont do things, so planned to create this blog as a start up and watch out for http://www.rcreviews.com/ in future... RC is my initials... ppl shouldnt blink right... :).....

In this blog i would be writing about the movies that i watch... and new songs that i listen to...You ll get to kno ther is another Rajeev Masand / Madhan inside me ...

Ok buddies catch u later with my reviews...
